CoConstruct Alternatives for Small Residential Builders (2026)
CoConstruct is moving into Buildertrend. Six options for a builder or remodeler running 4 to 8 jobs, including the official Buildertrend path, priced by team size from each vendor's own pages, and how to leave without losing your project history.
By Clamp ResearchReviewed by Emmanuel ForgePublished Oct 15, 2026✓ Reviewed Oct 2026
Direct answer: For a residential builder or remodeler running 4 to 8 jobs, Buildertrend is the official path and keeps your CoConstruct history in reach, but its price is a quote. Clamp is the lowest published price, with change orders, job costing and mileage on every plan, from $12.50 a month billed annually and $83.33 for up to 10 people, though it is lighter on selections and accounting. BuildBook is closest on selections; JobTread offers CoConstruct migration help; Contractor Foreman and Projul price by team tier.
Change order, priced
Job cost against budget
Sample data. A change order shows its effect on the contract before it is signed, and the job costs card compares what the job is consuming with its budget.
At a glance
CoConstruct was built for custom builders and remodelers: selections, change orders and a client portal on every job. Buildertrend bought it in 2021 and is now moving CoConstruct customers onto Buildertrend. So the question is no longer whether to leave, it is where to go, and how to get there without losing years of project history. That last worry is the one builders raise when they ask how others got off CoConstruct.
This list is for a residential builder or remodeler running about 4 to 8 jobs at a time. Every competitor price and feature comes from each vendor's own pricing, feature or help pages, read between October 11 and 15, 2026. Where a page doesn't mention something, this list says 'not found on official pages' rather than 'can't'.

Competitor columns from each vendor's own pricing page, feature pages and help center, checked October 14, 2026. Not found means not on those pages, not that the product can't do it another way. Partly means something narrower than the Clamp feature. No product was tested against another.
Buildertrend announced its acquisition of CoConstruct on February 24, 2021. CoConstruct's own site now says its transition to Buildertrend is entering its final phase. Its migration page says projects can still be added through March 31, 2027, that new projects start in Buildertrend, and that you keep access to CoConstruct to see historical project information.
CoConstruct's migration timeline moves new projects to Buildertrend; it says projects can still be added to CoConstruct through March 31, 2027.
Buildertrend does not publish a price; it quotes each business, billed annually or quarterly, so you learn the new cost from a sales demo.
CoConstruct's migration page promises historical access but does not say whether it is read-only, how long it lasts, or what you can export.
Since you have to set up new software either way, it is a natural point to compare published prices.
6 CoConstruct alternatives
In order of fit for a residential builder or remodeler running 4 to 8 jobs. Buildertrend is the official path; the others ask you to start fresh. Each entry says where it is stronger, not only where it falls short.
1ClampBest for one to ten person residential crews running the job from a phone
Price
Solo $19.99 a month or $149.99 a year ($12.50 a month billed annually). Assistant $49.99 or $499.99. Teams $99.99 a month or $999.99 a year for up to 10 accounts. Solo is free for the first month on monthly billing.
Team
One account on Solo and Assistant; up to 10 on Teams, plus unlimited free sub invites who never see your prices.
Where it is stronger
The whole residential job in one record, first call to final invoice: lead score, design agreement, AI estimate at cost, proposal, change orders and invoices.
Change orders, job costing, receipts and punch lists on every plan, including Solo.
Mileage and time on site detected automatically and costed to the job, on every plan.
A customer portal with e-signatures and email reminders from Assistant, $41.67 a month billed annually.
Teams covers up to 10 people plus unlimited free sub invites, who never see your prices, for $99.99 a month.
Where it falls short for a small residential contractor
Lighter than CoConstruct on selections: no selections showroom with allowances; decisions are recorded in the portal.
Lighter on accounting integrations: not accounting software, no general ledger, payroll, bank feeds or tax filing, and no QuickBooks sync; an accountant export instead.
No takeoff from plans and no Gantt schedule; the shared schedule is whole days, on Teams.
Clamp does not process payments; you add your own payment link and record what was paid.
No CoConstruct importer: project history, selections and change orders stay in CoConstruct; CSV bulk import covers records you export, such as customers.
2BuildertrendBest for CoConstruct customers who want the official path and the deepest feature set, and can work with a quoted price
Price
Not published. One subscription quoted per business, billed annually or quarterly, with 10% off annual paid upfront as a limited-time offer. No free trial; demos instead.
Team
Unlimited users and projects at no extra cost per user; inviting subs is free to them and to you.
Where it is stronger
The official path: CoConstruct's migration page says no project data will be lost and you keep access to CoConstruct to see historical project information.
Selections clients sign in the portal, and invoices built from estimate lines, change orders and selections.
Gantt scheduling with dependencies, critical path and baselines.
A free Sub Portal where subs respond to bids, approve purchase orders, post daily logs and request payment.
QuickBooks, Xero and Gusto integrations.
Where it falls short for a small residential contractor
No published price; you learn it from a sales demo, with no free trial.
Billed annually or quarterly; monthly billing was not found on official pages.
Offline use covers daily logs and the time clock only.
AI estimating and a business mileage log were not found on official pages.
3JobTreadBest for builders and remodelers who estimate from plans and want help moving off CoConstruct
Price
$199 a month with one internal user, plus $20 a month per user for users 2 to 10 ($16 billed annually); 20% off billed annually; no contract or setup fees.
Team
Per-user pricing for your staff; vendors, subs and customers are free and unlimited.
Where it is stronger
A CoConstruct migration program: JobTread's own June 19, 2026 press release offers hands-on help moving existing data, plus onboarding and training.
Selections customers e-sign in the portal, and good, better, best options on estimates.
On-screen takeoff on calibrated plans, synced to the budget.
Free sub and vendor portals where subs submit bids and e-sign purchase orders and work orders.
Two-way QuickBooks Online sync.
Where it falls short for a small residential contractor
A one-person shop pays $199 a month, or $159.20 billed annually, before adding anyone.
The mobile app is a web app added to the home screen, not an App Store or Google Play download; offline use is not stated.
Clock-in is manual with the location on a map; a business mileage log was not found on official pages.
4BuildBookBest for custom builders and remodelers who want selections with allowances at a published price
Price
Solo $79 a month billed annually ($99 monthly), one user. Team $149 billed annually. Business from $279 or $249 billed annually. Extra users $20 a month. The page's two plan tables disagree on Team and Business user caps and prices.
Team
Every feature on every plan, with unlimited projects, clients and subs; subs and clients are invited per project.
Where it is stronger
Client selections by category with allowances and due dates, and actual cost tracked against each allowance.
Gantt scheduling with dependencies and iCal sync, with control over what clients see.
Daily logs shared with clients and a private client chat per project, in native iOS and Android apps.
A budget built from the won estimate, with vendor bills and expenses tied to budget lines.
Where it falls short for a small residential contractor
A signature step on proposals and change orders is not described; the pages say electronic approval.
Online card or ACH payment on invoices was not found on official pages.
QuickBooks Online sync runs one way, from BuildBook.
Crew time tracking, purchase orders and a business mileage log were not found on official pages.
5Contractor ForemanBest for builders on a budget who want many modules and two-way QuickBooks sync
Price
Basic $49 a month billed annually for one user, annual only. Standard $105 (up to 3 users), Plus $166 (up to 8), Pro $221 (up to 15) and Unlimited $332 billed annually; $139, $199, $279 and $399 month to month. 30-day free trial.
Team
Priced by user tier, not per user. Its feature pages say plans include unlimited users with no per-user charges, while the pricing page lists user caps, so confirm the cap for your crew.
Where it is stronger
Change orders signed online, and the contract amount updates when one is approved.
Progress invoices with retainage, plus AIA G702 and G703 billing.
A client portal where clients approve estimates and change orders, see photos and the schedule, and pay by card or ACH.
Two-way QuickBooks Online and Desktop sync.
Gantt scheduling with critical path, and GPS time cards with geofencing.
Where it falls short for a small residential contractor
Which plan includes which feature did not render on the pricing page; the only readable note is that Basic and Standard leave out Local Material Database pricing.
Client selections are confirmed only by a help article title, not a feature page.
AI is for takeoffs only; AI estimating was not found on official pages.
Vehicle logs record mileage for maintenance; trip detection was not found on official pages.
6ProjulBest for growing crews that want flat team pricing and can budget for the upper tiers
Price
Starter $199 a month billed annually or $249 monthly, up to 3 users. Core $399 or $529, up to 10. Core+ $599 or $799, up to 20. Pro $1,199 or $1,599, unlimited.
Team
Flat price per plan with a user cap and no per-user fee; subcontractor profiles are schedule placeholders and cannot log in.
Where it is stronger
No per-user fees within a plan.
Selections with photos, pricing, allowances and good, better, best, with a running total; a significant change after signing creates a change order.
Estimates, change orders and contracts signed from an email or text link, with no account.
CSV import of clients, projects, cost templates and employees.
Where it falls short for a small residential contractor
Change orders start on Core ($399 a month billed annually); job costing, progress billing and the client portal on Core+ ($599); selections on Pro ($1,199).
Subs cannot log in.

What the whole business pays each month for one person, a three-person crew and ten people. Buildertrend, the official destination for CoConstruct customers, quotes each business, so it has no number here.

Per month for the whole business, from each vendor's own pricing page read 2026-10-14. Billed annually where the vendor offers it, with the monthly-billing price in parentheses where published; 'calculated' figures add the vendor's per-user price. Projul's change orders start on Core, job costing on Core+ ($599) and selections on Pro ($1,199). The plans compared are not equivalent: check what each includes before you compare totals.
When to keep using CoConstruct for now
You have open jobs: CoConstruct's own migration page says to keep using it for active projects so each one finishes cleanly.
You still need to start a project before you have chosen: projects can be added through March 31, 2027.
You need to look up a past job: CoConstruct says you keep access to see historical project information.
How to choose
Write down what your last three jobs needed: selections and allowances, change orders, draws, crew hours, sub coordination, mileage.
Ask Buildertrend for its quote first, so you compare the official path against published prices.
Count everyone who needs a login, including subs and clients, and price that number on each vendor's current pricing page.
Check where selections and job costing start; on some products they sit on a higher plan than the advertised price.
Run your next new job in the new tool from first call to final invoice before you commit the rest of the business.
Leaving CoConstruct without losing your history
Save your own copy before anything changes: selections and allowances, signed change orders, contracts, budgets, photos and files for every job, past and open. CoConstruct's migration page does not describe an export, so ask your account manager what you can download and in what format.
Keep historical access. CoConstruct says you keep access to see historical project information; ask whether it is read-only and how long it lasts, and note the answer.
Finish open jobs where they are. CoConstruct itself says to finish active projects there so nothing is lost.
Start new jobs in the new tool. Do not plan on moving old projects into Clamp; start fresh there and keep CoConstruct and your saved copies as the record. JobTread says it helps move existing data, and Projul imports clients, projects and cost templates by CSV.
Note the date: projects can be added to CoConstruct through March 31, 2027.
If you collect payments through CoConstruct today, set up the new payment path before your first new invoice goes out.
How this list was made
Published by Clamp, which is one of the options listed. Clamp's own facts come from its pricing page and method guide.
CoConstruct facts come from CoConstruct's own home and migration pages and Buildertrend's acquisition press release, read October 15, 2026. JobTread's migration offer is quoted from JobTread's own press release, a competitor's announcement.
Competitor prices and features come only from each vendor's own pricing, feature or help pages, read between October 11 and 14, 2026. Prices change; check the vendor's page before you buy.
'Not found on official pages' means exactly that. It does not mean the product cannot do it another way.
No product was tested against another. No speed or accuracy claim is made.
Residential builder or remodeler here means one to ten people running about 4 to 8 residential jobs at a time.
Questions
Is CoConstruct shutting down?
CoConstruct is being folded into Buildertrend, which bought it in 2021. CoConstruct's site says the transition to Buildertrend is entering its final phase. Its migration page says projects can still be added through March 31, 2027, new projects start in Buildertrend, and you keep access to CoConstruct to see historical project information.
Will I lose my CoConstruct project history if I switch?
CoConstruct's migration page says no project data will be lost and that you keep access to CoConstruct to see historical project information. It does not say whether that access is read-only, how long it lasts, or what you can export, so save your own copies of selections, change orders, contracts and files and ask your account manager those three questions.
How much will Buildertrend cost a CoConstruct customer?
Buildertrend does not publish a price. It quotes one subscription per business with unlimited users and projects, billed annually or quarterly, with 10% off annual paid upfront as a limited-time offer. CoConstruct's migration page asks for a credit card to create the Buildertrend account and says you are not charged at that point.
What does JobTread offer CoConstruct users?
In its own June 19, 2026 press release, JobTread says it offers CoConstruct users hands-on help moving existing data, plus onboarding and training. That is JobTread's announcement, not an independent review. JobTread is $199 a month with one internal user and $20 a month for each extra user up to 10, 20% off billed annually, with subs, vendors and customers free.
Which CoConstruct alternative is closest on selections?
BuildBook tracks selections by category with allowances, due dates and actual cost against each allowance, on every plan from $79 a month billed annually. Buildertrend and JobTread have selections clients sign in the portal. Projul has selections with allowances on Pro, $1,199 a month billed annually. Clamp has no selections showroom with allowances; decisions are recorded in its portal from Assistant.
What is the cheapest CoConstruct alternative for a three-person crew?
Billed annually, Clamp Teams is $83.33 a month for up to 10 accounts, Contractor Foreman Standard is $105 for up to 3 users, BuildBook Team is $149, JobTread is $191.20 (calculated) and Projul Starter is $199 for up to 3. Projul's change orders start on Core at $399. Buildertrend quotes each business.
Can I move my CoConstruct jobs into Clamp?
Not directly. Clamp has no CoConstruct importer, so project history, selections and change orders stay in CoConstruct. Clamp's CSV bulk import can bring in records you export, such as customers. Finish open jobs in CoConstruct, keep its historical access and your saved copies as the record, and start new jobs in Clamp.
