Clamp vs Contractor+: An AI estimating business app with a free plan and built-in payments, or an AI estimate that carries into a signed residential workflow with job costing on every plan
Contractor+ has a free plan, a lifetime Pro option, Estimatic AI, built-in card and ACH payments, financing and automatic overdue reminders. Clamp carries an AI estimate at direct cost into proposals, change orders, invoices, job costing, mileage and receipts on every plan, with 10 accounts and free subs on Teams.

Describe the job

Itemized draft at cost
Sample data. An AI estimate in Clamp starts with the job described the way you would say it, and the draft comes back as lines at direct cost, grouped by trade, before your markup goes on.

Verdict
Clamp may fit when
- You run residential remodels where the signed scope changes and you want each change priced and signed as its own change order
- You want job costing, receipts and mileage on the job from the first plan, not from a team tier
- You estimate at direct cost and apply your company markup once
- You want automatic trip detection at the IRS rate, attached to the job
- You are a crew of up to 10 and want one price, with subs invited free and never seeing your prices
- You work where the signal drops and need estimates, change orders and invoices offline
Contractor+ may fit when
- You want to start free and send up to 5 estimates or invoices a month without paying
- You would rather pay once: Pro is $997 lifetime for one user
- You want card and ACH payments and client financing inside the app
- You want the AI to read photos, blueprints or a competing quote and price from your cost book or supplier pricing
- You want automatic overdue invoice reminders by text as well as email
- You want a business phone system, team and client chat, a PRO website or a Gantt chart view
Before you compare them
- Both products turn a job description into an itemized AI estimate you edit, and both have contracts with e-signature, payment schedules, invoices, a client portal, job costing, time tracking and a mileage log. The difference is which plan each feature starts on and how deep it goes.
- Contractor+'s lowest price is its free Freedom plan, capped at 5 estimates or invoices a month. Its Pro plan is $29 a month billed annually, $49 monthly or $997 lifetime for one user. Clamp's lowest plan is Solo at $12.50 a month billed annually, with no free plan beyond one free AI estimate, 3 free AI credits and the first month of Solo free on monthly billing.
- Contractor+'s job costing, client portal and QuickBooks Online sync start on Pro Team at $58 a month billed annually for 2 users. Clamp's job costing, change orders, invoices, receipts and mileage are on every plan; the customer portal and e-signing start on Assistant.
- Contractor+ handles change orders as updates to an invoice; its help center says signed estimates have no direct change order feature. Clamp has change orders on every plan, tied to the original contract.
- Contractor+ processes card and ACH payments and offers client financing. Clamp does not process payments; you add your own payment link and record what was paid.
- Contractor+'s mileage log is in beta and its own pages describe it two ways; a link from a trip to a job is not stated. Clamp detects trips automatically and attaches each confirmed trip to the job.
- Contractor+'s help center lists 10 Estimatic AI credits a month on Pro and unlimited on Pro Team; Clamp has 3 free, then 25 a month on Assistant and 50 on Teams. Contractor+ does not define a credit on the pages read, so the counts are not directly comparable.
- 'Not found' on this page means not found on Contractor+'s pricing page, feature pages or Help Center on 2026-10-14. It does not mean Contractor+ cannot do it another way.
- Neither product was tested against the other. No speed or accuracy claim is made.
Workflow
| Feature | Clamp | Contractor+ |
|---|---|---|
| AI estimate from a description | Describe the job in plain words; the draft lists what it included, excluded and assumed. One free on the website; 3 free credits in the app, then 25 a month on Assistant and 50 on Teams | Estimatic AI: describe the job and add photos, blueprints, drawings or a competing quote. 10 credits a month on Pro per its help center, unlimited on Pro Team; from Pro, not on Freedom's feature list |
| Whose prices fill the lines | Every line at direct job cost; your saved rate replaces the baseline line by line. No price-sheet import | Your cost book and line item templates, supplier pricing, or a Regional Labor Pricing Index |
| Revising the draft | Type or say what to change; Clamp changes only that, keeps numbers you typed and shows each change with its price before you apply it. Half a credit | Edit any line; Plan Review drafts groups, line items, quantities and units before pricing |
| Markup | One company markup from your overhead and profit goal, applied once and shown apart from the direct cost | AI-defined, default or no markup on AI drafts; default material and labor markup and labor rate in settings |
| Good, better, best options | Allowance lines for selections not yet made, and a Decisions needed list after signing | Optional line items the client selects, on Pro; assembly, labor, material, equipment and permit line types |
| Estimate to signed contract | Design agreement, estimate and proposal on every plan; proposals e-signed in the customer portal on Assistant and Teams | Automated contracts on Pro: a contract on an estimate or invoice, signed on a signature pad by the client only or both parties. A design or preconstruction agreement was not found on its official pages |
| Change orders | Every plan: tied to the original contract, priced and billed, e-signed in the portal on Assistant and Teams | An update to an existing invoice that the client approves, denies or questions through a link; on a signed estimate, no direct feature, so new items are grouped in the estimate and resent |
| Payment schedule | Deposit, milestone payments and a final payment from the signed proposal; milestones tied to job events with a checklist of evidence | A required deposit, then milestone or date payments in percent or dollars; plan not stated |
| Invoices | Unlimited on every plan; each invoice belongs to the contract or change order it bills | Every plan; Freedom is capped at 5 estimates or invoices a month combined |
| Payments | Not processed by Clamp: add your own payment link and record what was paid; no financing | Card and ACH and client financing on Pro; card 3.5% + $0.30 and ACH 1.5% on Free; paid-plan rates not found on the pages read |
| Overdue invoice reminders | Email reminders from Assistant; you send a payment reminder from the invoice | Automatic overdue reminders by email, text or both, repeating until paid |
| Job costing | Every plan: receipts, vendor bills, time on site and labor against the estimate, reviewed at close | Pro Team and up: cost tracking and profitability, job-level costs against revenue; vendor bills not found on its official pages |
| Receipts | Receipts logged against the job they belong to, every plan, and counted in job cost | Expenses with optional receipt photos, marked billable and imported onto a client invoice; materials recorded against a job task |
| Business mileage log | Automatic trip detection, confirmed per trip, attached to the job, at the IRS rate for its date, every plan | In beta. Help center: distance between clock-in and clock-out locations, plus manual entries. Feature page: Start Trip and End Trip at the IRS or a company rate, CSV or PDF reports. A link to the job is not stated |
| Time on site | Automatic time on site recorded against the job, every plan; not a GPS crew clock with geofencing | Crew clock in and out with location logged at each punch, tied to a job, work order or task; geofence-triggered logging listed as upcoming |
| Team pricing and roles | Teams: up to 10 accounts for $83.33 a month billed annually or $99.99 monthly | Pro Team: 2 users for $58 a month billed annually or $98 monthly, extra users $20 or $29; Admin, Manager, Field Worker and custom roles; Max $500 a month for an unlimited team |
| Subcontractor access | Unlimited free sub invites on Teams; subs see the job and schedule, never your prices | Extra users are paid logins controlled by permission groups; a subcontractor role was not found on its official pages |
| Customer portal | Sign, view invoices, photos and schedule, answer decisions; Assistant and Teams | Pro Team: a secure link with no password; clients view estimates, invoices, jobs, contracts, photos and documents, pay balances and submit requests |
| Scheduling | A job schedule on Assistant; a shared schedule your crew and subs confirm on Teams | Scheduling on Pro; a color-coded calendar by assignee with two-way calendar sync; Gantt chart view |
| Lead qualification | A five-question lead score on the first call, every plan | Pipeline stages with dollar value by stage; lead scoring was not found on its official pages |
| Accounting | An accountant export package; no general ledger, payroll, bank feeds or tax filing | QuickBooks Online sync of invoices, payments and change orders on Pro Team |
| Working offline | Leads, estimates, proposals, change orders and invoices work with no signal on every plan; AI drafts, e-signing and the portal need a connection | Offline use not found on its official pages; web, mobile and tablet apps |
What was and was not tested
What was compared: Hands-on testing of either product. Neither was tested against the other, and no speed or accuracy claim is made. Documented, not tested.
| Statement | Basis |
|---|---|
| Published by Clamp, using each product's own pricing pages and documentation. | Clamp's own statement |
| One person, billed annually: Contractor+ Pro is $348 a year and Clamp Solo is $149.99. Contractor+ Freedom is free for 5 estimates or invoices a month, and its $997 lifetime Pro equals about 2.9 years of annual Pro (calculated). | Calculated from published prices |
| Five people with job costing, billed annually: Contractor+ Pro Team is $1,416 a year (calculated); Clamp Teams is $999.99 for up to 10 accounts. The plans are not equivalent: Pro Team includes payments, financing, unlimited AI, a phone system, chat and QuickBooks Online sync that Clamp does not offer, and Teams includes change orders on signed contracts, decisions, automatic job mileage and free sub access that Contractor+ does not document. | Calculated from published prices |
| Contractor+'s pages do not agree on every price: its pricing page shows Pro at $29 and Pro Team at $58 a month while its meta description lists $49 and $98, and its help center gives $49 a month or $348 a year for Pro. This page reads $29 and $58 as the annual-billing rates and $49 and $98 as month to month. | Verified against a published source |
| Contractor+'s help center lists 10 Estimatic AI credits a month on Pro; its pricing page lists Estimatic AI on Pro without a limit. | Verified against a published source |
Switching
- Contractor+ documents importing leads, clients, vendors and materials from CSV or Excel, but no export was found on its official pages; ask how to get your estimates and invoices out before you cancel.
- If you bought lifetime Pro, weigh what you already paid against what you need next; the lifetime purchase does not carry Pro Team features.
- If you collect card or ACH payments or offer financing in Contractor+, set up your own payment link before you switch.
- If you rely on automatic overdue texts, plan to send reminders from the invoice or use Clamp's email reminders on Assistant.
- Do not assume your Contractor+ cost book can be imported into Clamp; save your rates in the app as you price your first jobs.
- Finish open jobs where they started; start new ones in Clamp, beginning with the free AI estimate.
Questions
Is Contractor+ free?
Yes, with limits. The Freedom plan is $0 for up to 250 leads and clients and, since January 2026, 5 estimates or invoices a month. Scheduling, team management and analytics need a paid plan, and card payments cost 3.5% + $0.30 on Free. Clamp has no ongoing free plan: you get one free AI estimate on clamppro.com, 3 free AI credits in the app, and the first month of Solo free on monthly billing.
Is the Contractor+ $997 lifetime plan worth it?
Contractor+'s help center lists Pro for one user at $997 lifetime, against $348 a year billed annually, so it pays off after about 2.9 years of Pro (calculated). Lifetime Pro does not include the Pro Team features: job costing, the client portal and QuickBooks Online sync. Clamp has no lifetime option; Solo is $149.99 a year with job costing, change orders, mileage and receipts included.
How do Contractor+ Estimatic AI and Clamp AI estimates compare?
Estimatic AI drafts from a description plus photos, blueprints, drawings or a competing quote, and prices from your cost book, supplier pricing or a regional labor index. Contractor+'s help center lists 10 AI credits a month on Pro and unlimited on Pro Team. Clamp drafts from a plain description at direct cost, lists what it included, excluded and assumed, and applies one company markup; 3 free credits, then 25 a month on Assistant or 50 on Teams.
Does Contractor+ do change orders?
Partly. Contractor+ sends a change order as an update to an existing invoice; the client approves, denies or requests changes through a link, and the invoice updates on approval. For a signed estimate, its help center says there isn't a direct change order feature and suggests grouping new items inside the estimate and resending it. Clamp has change orders on every plan, tied to the original contract and billed on their own invoice.
How much do Contractor+ and Clamp cost for a crew of five?
Contractor+ Pro Team is $58 a month billed annually for 2 users, plus $20 a month for each extra user, so five users come to $118 a month or $1,416 a year (calculated); month to month it is $98 plus $29 per extra user. Pro Team is the first plan with job costing. Clamp Teams covers up to 10 accounts for $83.33 a month billed annually, with unlimited free sub invites.
How do Contractor+ and Clamp track mileage and receipts?
Contractor+'s mileage log is in beta: its help center describes distance calculated between clock-in and clock-out locations, while its feature page describes Start Trip and End Trip at the IRS or a company rate; a link to the job is not stated. Receipt photos attach to billable client expenses. Clamp detects trips automatically, you confirm each one at the IRS rate for its date, and receipts are logged against the job on every plan.
Does Contractor+ take card payments?
Yes. Card and ACH payments and client financing start on Pro, and its free plan charges 3.5% + $0.30 per card payment and 1.5% for ACH. Overdue invoice reminders can go out automatically by email, text or both. Clamp does not process payments: you add your own payment link and record what was paid. If collecting payment inside the app matters, Contractor+ is the stronger fit.
